The US made 9400 Locktites came in a bewildering number of minor variations. I think the Faber people had nothing better to do than retool their factories every other week. The earliest model, shown above, had a smooth nosepiece.

The variety of examples on this page is probably not exhaustive. Nearly every time I get a 9400, it differs in some way from the others I have. Compound these variations with the eight or more unique lead degree imprints and you could spend a lifetime just searching for varieties of this one model.
