The model 5217 is a member of a set of six colored leadholders. The “/5” appended to the model number indicates that this pencil is the fifth member of the set. The Technicolor name was later replaced with Colorama.

I bought this leadholder from a student bookshop at the Technical Institute outside Prague. The price on it, 4.6 Korunas, was equivalent to about 18 cents in US currency at the time (1995). The others were purchased at Vebra, an art supply store in central Prague with more entrepreneurial pricing of about $1 each.

In the “Manufacturers & Mfg. Info”Link Opens in New Windowsection of Doug Martin’s Pencil PagesLink Opens in New Windowwebsite, he lists the Czech Koh-I-Noor company as “Koh-I-Noor (Bohemia Works).” I've been meaning to ask him about that. Someday I will, and I promise to let you know as soon as I do, so czech back often.
