The 992 was available in a number of configurations including this model with a cast iron base. The base, unlike the pointer itself, is made in the USA.

This pointer was known as the model 25960 “Koh-I-Noor Educator Lead Pointer” when first introduced into the Koh-I-Noor product line in 1976. Later, it would be promoted to the 992 position, displacing the older, squareish model.

This pointer shares design features and uses guides which are identical with the smaller Alvin ALP44.
